CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule

Advanced Copy: CMS Emergency Preparedness Final Rule Interpretive Guidelines and Survey Procedures

On September 16, 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published the final rule on Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers (Federal Register Vol. 81, No. 180). The rule, which affects all 17 provider and supplier types eligible for participation in Medicare, became effective on November 15, 2016 and will be implemented on November 15, 2017.

This is an advanced copy of the "Emergency Preparedness Final Rule Interpretive Guidelines and Survey Procedures" that CMS released on June 2.

Emergency Preparedness Survey Tool for Dialysis

Each of the seventeen provider and supplier types included under the Final Rule will have its own set of emergency preparedness regulations incorporated into its set of conditions or requirements for certification.
